How to make USB recovery Drive for Windows8?

Recovery Drive is a drive which consists of all the important data and files in back-up form. When we buy a new PC or Laptop we are provided with a recovery drive with all the initial settings it. These recovery drive proves out to be very beneficial in fixing problems such as bad files, problems caused due hardware failures and also when our system fails up at the time of start-up.

One things that you should take in consideration before creating it is that a Recovery image should be present on your computer, as you would need it for creating USB recovery drive.

Now follow the steps sequentially:

Step 1: Open Command Prompt from Start as an Admin.

Step 2: If asked give the password and continue or else directly you will be there with command prompt.

Step 3: Now enter the below mentioned command:

Recimg/showcurrent and then hit enter.

There may arise two possible cases:

Case 1:  Your computer does not have any recovery drive. You have to create a recovery image otherwise you will get an error message saying “There is no active custom recovery”.

So now to create an image of recovery you will go with the following steps:

1. In command prompt enter the command “mkdir C:\RefreshImage” without double quotes and hit enter.

2. Then the next command you have to enter is “recimg-Createimage C:\RefreshImage” without double quotes and press enter.

Then the process of creating the recovery will start and you have to wait till it completes.

Case 2: This case is direct contradiction to other, when you have a recovery image in your computer. You can proceed with the next following steps.  

Create USB recovery device:

Being an administrator search for recovery drive in Windows Search Pannel and from there click on ‘Create a recovery Drive’.

  

1. After the opening up of the respective window you have to check the box showing Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive, and hit next.

2. In the next step inject the USB drive you want to create and format it by right clicking over it. Then select your USB from the listed drives and hit next, after that click on ‘Create’.

3. This is it, here you are with a Windows 8 Recovery Image which can now be use t fix many problems.

 If you want to have a recovery drive for your computer then just complete the task by clicking on Finish or can also now delete the recovery drive of your computer to save space.
